A committee of senior officials of 15 departments was also formed
Prayagraj (Rajesh Shukla). The recognition of the gazetteer made during the British rule in India will now end. The government has decided to make its own new gazetteer in every district during the golden period of independence. The government has given instructions to all the district magistrates for publication. For this, a committee of senior officials of 15 departments has also been formed in Prayagraj under the chairmanship of DM.
This committee will prepare a gazetteer at the district level after studying all the important aspects including history-geography, art-literature and culture, religion and crime, justice and administration, farming, economy, weather, natural resources, industry, tourism, banking. For this, all departments will provide authentic details within two weeks. One of the major objectives of publishing gazetteer is to save the schemes of the government on record. The new gazetteer will be a complete guide with a large information bank. Changing its name is also being considered.
The British officers had studied the Indian society at the local level for their convenience. While preparing the gazetteer of the districts, all types of information were kept in it. After the British rule, no efforts were made to change this gazetteer, although many changes have taken place since then. When many new districts were changed, the states also got separated. The old gazetteers do not mention the expansion and new development of the district. There are many forests, reservoirs etc. in the old gazetteers which are no longer there.
Many changes will be visible in the new gazetteer. The information which is useless will be removed. It will describe the geographical location, natural boundaries, area and population of the district. Nagar Panchayat, development block, medical college, Navodaya, Polytechnic, Kendriya Vidyalaya, park, national highway and other roads formed in recent times will be included. Data from educational institutions and revenue department will also be included. The area of which crops increased and decreased will be recorded afresh. From the number of banks to the changed assembly constituencies and Lok Sabha constituencies will also be included. Once ready, it will be uploaded on the website of the Ministry of Culture.
A new map will also be made
Changes will also be made in the map made from the old gazetteer. This map will be in various offices including the Collectorate. Expansion and new institutions will be included in the new map, so that people can easily get information about the district with the help of the map. In this, National Highway, State Highway, local roads, new police stations, tehsils, new educational institutions, flyover-over bridges and tourist places will be shown.
