Which is one of the villages in the project affected area of MUNPL (a joint venture of NTPC and UPRVUN). A few days ago, MUNPL had inaugurated a unit of its solar powered mini drinking water scheme there. Some of the villages in the project affected area are May Kala, May Khurd, Salaiya Kala, Salaiya Khurd, Jhadiyahi, Patai Dadi, Isauta, Bijora and Kohdar. Actually, due to the rocky area, the water level in this area is very low, due to which the villagers here have to face a lot of problems.

Rajkumari, a 55-year-old laborer, shared her experience, "I have been facing water problems here since the time of my marriage. It was very difficult for us to do our daily chores. Earlier, MUNPL had installed handpumps in our village, which The water is no longer fit for drinking. Due to the decrease in the ground water level, dirty water started coming from the hand pump. Due to which she was fetching water from Laltara village, which is 3 km away. This problem was also a challenge for other women of the village. But with the setting up of MUNPL's solar powered mini drinking water scheme unit, their worries seem to have been put to rest. Rajkumari looking at the newly installed water tank in her village with hopeful eyes says that now we have to walk a long way to get drinking water. No distance has to be covered.

Over the years, MUNPL has invested in several resources to deal with the water crisis prevailing in the region. Her initiatives, ranging from sustainable projects to community engagement, demonstrate her determination to make a positive impact. Since the inception of the JV at Meja, MUNPL has installed more than 65 handpumps in its project affected villages.

Like Salaiya Khurd, around 30,000 people from other nearby villages are also facing similar challenges due to their difficult geographical location. However, a ray of hope has emerged among the people here with the establishment of MUAPL's remarkable solar powered mini drinking water scheme which is not only solving their water woes but also brightening up their lives with the promise of empowerment.

Recognizing the urgency of issues from time to time, Super-critical Thermal Power Plant (2×660 MW Capacity) MUNPL has been taking proactive steps in the project affected area through its strong community development initiatives. In line with the Jal Jeevan Mission of the Central Government, the Solar Powered Mini Drinking Water Scheme is an important step towards community development. Salaiya Khurd was one of its focal points where a unit of solar powered mini drinking water scheme was established. This mini drinking water scheme proved to be a game changer for the princess and her village. With this initiative, safe drinking water reached the heart of the village, so that there is no need to go far to fetch water.

Its initiatives are not limited to infrastructure only. It has also provided solar powered reverse osmosis (RO) systems to primary schools to ensure safe drinking water for the next generation. Along with this, solar lights have also been installed in the villages. In the last two years, MUNPL has installed around ten solar powered RO systems in various villages.

The impact of these initiatives resonated beyond the physical facilities and brought alive the dreams and aspirations of the people. The change brought about by MUNPL's social initiatives for Rajkumari was effective. He is now free from the problem of water scarcity, which will give him time and energy to explore new horizons.
